4 Steamed Momos Recipes to Try in Your Electric Rice Cooker

These days, it is easy to find stalls that sell momos at every nook and corner. Though people love to have it, they are often worried about the food being stale or unhygienically prepared.

Making momos at home provides you with the flexibility of experimenting with different fillings. You can make a variety of momos using your rice cooker, which is a versatile cooking appliance. Here are a few of the delicious steamed momo recipes that you can try in your electric rice cooker.

Vegetable Steamed Momos

Instead of just going with traditional filing of carrots and cabbage, you can add finely chopped onions along with mushrooms and tofu. Add some grated ginger, garlic, cilantro and soy sauce for that extra flavour. Add salt to taste and steam the momos with this filling in your electric rice cooker.

Momo Soup

You can use the vegetable steamed momos to make this soup. For the soup, sauté a little chopped ginger and garlic in a spoon of oil and then add some vegetable stock to it. Cook for a few minutes and adjust the seasoning. Add assorted vegetables like julienned carrots, cabbage, beans and corn to it. If you like to have your soup a little thick, add a little corn flour. Meat Momos

To make the filling, heat a tablespoon of oil and add some finely chopped onion and garlic to it.  Sauté it for a few seconds and add the meat you want. Let it cook well and then take it off from heat. Add seasonings of salt, black pepper, soya sauce and vinegar. Make momos using this filling to prepare momos and steam them for around 10 minutes in the rice cooker.

Chicken Momo with Chicken Soup

There’s nothing that can beat the joy of having steaming hot chicken soup on a cold evening. You can make the steamed chicken momos in your rice cooker following the recipe given in meat momos to have it with the soup for a complete meal. For the soup, add a tablespoon of oil and sauté chopped onion in it. Now, add some minced chicken to it and sauté for a few minutes. As soon as the chicken starts changing colour, add some finely chopped vegetables like carrot and cabbage to it and add vinegar and soy sauce as per taste. Next, add chicken stock and leave it to simmer till the chicken gets completely cooked. Finally, add salt and crushed pepper and enjoy it with freshly steamed chicken momos.
